Northeastern Supply celebrates 75th Anniversary!
Northeastern Supply is proud to celebrate its 75th Anniversary!
Northeastern Supply, a Mid-Atlantic plumbing and HVAC distributor, was founded in 1945, the same year that the Detroit Tigers won the World Series, minimum wage was 40 cents per hour, Harry Truman was man of the year, and the slinky was the biggest Christmas gift.
Northeastern Supply began in a group of converted “row homes” in downtown Baltimore, Maryland. As the company grew, it hired John H. Cook III in 1964 to run their Elkton location. He was Elkton’s branch manager until 1971, when he decided to purchase Northeastern Supply. John has since retired but leaves a lasting legacy, as evidenced with passing the torch to his son, Steve Cook (CEO), the third generation being involved in the family business, as well as having a dedicated, hardworking staff.
Today, Northeastern Supply might call Baltimore its home, but their operating power extends well beyond that reach. With locations spanning Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia, Northeastern has 36 locations that conveniently serve a variety of plumbing and HVAC contractors working in the Mid-Atlantic region. With well over 300 employees, Northeastern Supply is considered to be one of the Mid-Atlantics fastest growing wholesalers in the industry and Northeastern has no plans of slowing down.
As Steve Cook, the CEO of NE explains, “We are a young thinking, aggressive company, constantly striving to do it better. We live and breathe our mission statement.”
Over the years, Northeastern has also supported and helped numerous charities, including (but not limited to) The Boys and Girls Clubs, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Helping up Mission, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Things have changed a lot in 75 years, but one thing that remains is Northeastern Supply’s mission to work harder every day, doing whatever it takes to be their customers’ preferred supplier.
